event details

Rotary International President Jennifer Jones, husband Nick Krayacich, and several Canadian Rotary senior leaders will be ferried from the Harbour Air terminal by the Water Taxi, captained by Rotarian and former mayor of Oak Bay, Christopher Causton, to the lower causeway in front of the Fairmont Empress…

Following a small Meet and Greet Coffee Social, we will head to the Food Distribution Centre for a guided tour of the facility and then participate in ‘gleaning and cleaning’ the donated food on hand.

Other female leaders who have been invited to take part in the food preparation with Jennifer are Lieutenant Governor Janet Austin, Chair of the Victoria Foundation Sandra Richardson, and Rotary Foundation Trustee, Dean Rohrs.

After the hands-on work, guests will enjoy a tapas-style lunch using all the fresh food that has been donated by the Food Share Network – all prepared by the chef from the Food Distribution Centre, an arm of the Mustard Seed. Chef prepares 200 lunches daily for the clientele of the Mustard Seed in downtown Victoria.

Later in the day, Jennifer will head to Mile 0 and visit the Terry Fox statue. Jennifer will dip her foot in the Pacific Ocean, as she did in the Atlantic near the start of her tour, and meet Rotarian Rob Reid, who spearheaded raising funds for the statue.

The group will then walk over to Beacon Hill Park and the Cameron Bandshell, to join District 5020 Rotarians and friends from both Vancouver Island and Western Washington, who have been invited to a “Mix ‘n Mingle with President Jennifer” to mix and mingle while enjoying light entertainment, some time to chat with Jen, and pizza/ refreshments will be served.
